A properly executed hot vulcanized joint can last the full life of the belt -typically 2 to 5+ years depending on operating conditions, load, and belt type. Cold vulcanized joints, when correctly done, can last till the belt life. Mechanical fastener joints are temporary and require periodic inspection.

Belt slippage is commonly caused by worn or smooth drive pulleys, insufficient tension, or contamination. The most effective fix is pulley lagging -applying rubber or ceramic lagging sheets to the drive pulley surface to restore traction. Oliver supplies diamond and ceramic lagging sheets for both dry and wet operating conditions.

Longitudinal cuts are repaired using our Cold Vulcanizing Kit or Instant Repair Kit with longitudinal cut repair patches. The damaged area is cleaned with Belt O Cleaner, adhesive primer is applied, the patch is bonded and vulcanized. For deep or wide cuts, hot vulcanizing may be recommended. Our technicians can handle this on-site.

Cold Vulcanizing is best for quick same-day repairs on rubber and Steel Cord belts. Hot Vulcanizing is the permanent, highest-strength solution for heavy-duty fabric and steel cord belts. Mechanical Fasteners are ideal for emergency temporary repairs on all belt types. Our technicians will recommend the correct method after on-site inspection.

Yes - for rubber and steel cord belts using cold vulcanizing, jointing can typically be completed within a few hours. Mechanical fastener jointing is also a fast same-day solution. Hot vulcanizing for heavy-duty or steel cord belts may require additional time depending on belt thickness and site conditions.
